Parking for Arcata Marsh Run

Parking can be very difficult, so come early. The main parking area is where the races begin, so much of it will be unavailable. I Street and G Street provide some parking

The TK-2 Race begins at the end of I Street at the Arcata Marsh Parking Lot. However, there will be no general parking in the lot, so parking will be difficult. Runners can be dropped off early so parents can find parking. School vehicles can email HRRAY to arrange parking. Check athletic.net information in the 6-8 course information.

The 3-5 Race will run around Klopp Lake.

Please read the parking information in the K-2 race section. Be sure to come early so your runners will make it in time.

The 6-8 Race is circles four or the oxidation ponds. Be sure to check K-2 race for parking information and arrive early.

Be sure to go to athletic.net (Registration Information on the Index Page) to sign up by  September 20.

The K-2 race is about .8 of a mile. It is a simple out & back course.

Parking can be a bit difficult, but there is parking on both sides of the park and at the Gymkhana.

3-5 Race

The 3-5 race is about 1.25 miles long, following the same course, but turning at Taylor Way and then returning to the finish.

6-8 Race

The 6-8 race goes right on Taylor way and follows the Mad River on the levee. It is 1.8 miles long.

Winship Middle School is located at

 2500 Cypress Ave, Eureka, CA 95503. There is some parking in the lot in front of the school, but when it is full, it will be necessary to park along Cypress, Cedar or Walnut Drive. The race begins at 4:30 so the buses and parents can pick up students before the meet. Please arrive after 4:00.

The three courses are shown above. The black line is the K-2 race, which is one lap around the field. The 3-5 runners run 1 1/2 laps, so they finish on the red line. This 3-5 course was changed to adjust to the timing system.  The 6-8 grade runners run two full laps.

We are very lucky to have Winship on our schedule. Please keep runners on the field and make sure you keep track of your athletes when they are not running.

The Hammond Trail Races have been limited mostly to Hiller Park so you can watch your athletes run.

The K-2 Race is close to .8 of a mile and almost all of it is on the grass around the soccer fields.

Parking will be difficult. You may use the parking lot or park on the street. There will be lots of people. Carpool and arrive early.

The finish line will be created when we arrive at the race today. There will be  baseball and soccer practice so we are finding a safe finish line location.

Willow Creek Course Information

The Willow Creek Race (Bigfoot Run) is held on the Bigfoot Golf Course,  333 Bigfoot Ave, in Willow Creek. It is a very simple and enjoyable course if it is not too hot.

Take the left turn just past the turnoff to Hoopa on Country Club Drive. Cross the Trinity River and take a left at the stop sign onto Patterson Road. Continue on Patterson Road and take a right on Bigfoot Road (Golf Course Turnoff). Immediately go left onto Fairway and park.

Bigfoot is famous in Willow Creek, but he has never won this race, but he hopes to soon.

The courses will be explained at the meet.

To get to Rohner Park, take the Main Street turnoff and follow Main Street to Rohner Park which is on the left. There is quite a bit of parking, but the lot could fill, so come early.

The K-2 race is about 1/2 mile and will be well marked.

The 3-5 race course is about 1.25 miles and has one hill. All these race have a lot of locations to see the runners.

The 6-8 race is about 1.7 miles long and has two hills. It's a fairly challenging course with a lot of dirt trails & roads.

There are rumors of cupcakes being given to all runners who complete the courses.

Championship Course Information

Arcata Community Center

The grass at the Arcata Community Center makes a great running course unless it gets too much rain. There is lots of parking so everyone should be able to park close to the race course.

HealthSport is also at this locations so everyone must be courteous so we can continue to use this venue.

 

Race Courses

The 3-5 and 6-8 courses are 1.9 miles and runners follow the yellow line for the first lap and the silver line for the second lap. The K-4 runners follow the silver line. Both laps are identical except for the turn to the finish line. the red lines are the start and finish lines.

The Rotary Club of Arcata Sunrise has been our main sponsor for this event, providing support from the members of the Rotary Club for award recognition. The club purchases the top 10 awards in each age category. We hope all the award winners will be able to stay to receive their awards.
