The Humboldt Botanical Gardens are at the southern edge of Eureka. The Gardens are near the South Bay portion of Humboldt Bay on the north side of College of the Redwoods. The park is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
It is closed Monday and Tuesday.
To get to the parking lot, take the north entrance to CR (look for the Botanical Gardens sign). Follow the signs to the middle parking lot to the Botanical Gardens.
Follow the path from the parking lot to the gate. Open the gate and turn right. Check in at the building to the right and let her/him know that you are here for the HRRAY run. Follow the path to the starting line.
At the bottom of the hill the trail turns left. There is a small ditch at this point where you will find the red, blue and pink markers. There is also a chalk line.
There is a red marker on the right side and a red chalk line is on the path. Be careful running down to the finish because it is very steep.
The K-2 race is a steep .5 mile.
The 3-5 turnaround is at the top of the next hill. The blue marker is on the right side and the blue chalk is on the path. Run back to the start/finish. The 3-5 course is also steep race and is .9 mile.
The 6-8 turnaround is at the top of the hill at the labyrinth garden. Run all the way around the labyrinth on the brown trail and run back to the finish. The course is 1.2 miles.
The labyrinth is at the top of a fairly difficult climb. It is a tough climb, but it is a beautiful view at the top. It is a fairly steep drop to the finish, so be careful not to fall.
We have been given an opportunity to use this beautiful place without paying. Please thank them if possible and be respectful while you are there.
